It is with great pleasure that we present Volume 3, Issue 1 of the Journal of Economics, Law and Society (JELS), ISSN 3029-3189. This issue appears at a particularly significant moment in the journal’s development. After two years of publication, JELS has been accepted for coverage in Scopus following evaluation by the Scopus Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB). This achievement represents an important recognition of the quality, relevance, editorial direction, and international character that our authors, reviewers, editorial board, and production team have worked collectively to establish.
The decision is especially meaningful because JELS was founded in 2024 with a clear but ambitious purpose: to explore the relationships among economics, law, and society, with a distinct emphasis on Islamic economics, banking, and finance. The CSAB’s assessment affirmed that the journal has a clear research identity, well-defined aims and scope, globally inclusive editorial and authorship profiles, research-based content, sound methodologies, consistent referencing, and a strong presentation. It also acknowledged JELS’s useful regional function, particularly through its engagement with scholarship from the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and other emerging research contexts.
We receive this recognition with gratitude and, equally importantly, with a renewed sense of responsibility. Indexing in Scopus is not an endpoint. It is an invitation to consolidate the standards that have guided JELS from its beginning and to continue improving the journal’s contribution to international scholarship.
